FireHazResearch
The Firefighters’ Assessment of Tangible Exposures to Contaminants system is dedicated to assessing, mitigating and reducing the exposure of firefighters to harmful contaminants through innovative monitoring and measuring solutions. Through innovative technology and research, we aim to provide a safer working environment and reduce the incidence of cancer and other occupational diseases among firefighters.

The Opportunity
Our system addresses a critical need in global firefighting. With increasing awareness of occupational cancer and other disease risks, there is strong demand from Fire and Rescue Services for advanced exposure monitoring systems that support health and safety compliance and promote the long-term health of firefighters.
Next Steps
Our joint venture brings together multiple organisations, combining their expertise and resources to enhance firefighter health. Next steps include pilot deployments with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, field validation, and system refinement based on user feedback. Our goal is widespread adoption across national and international Fire and Rescue Services.
The Team
Our multidisciplinary team brings expertise in fire toxicity, environmental health, occupational safety, sensor technology, and data analytics. We collaborate with leading institutions and Fire and Rescue Services to ensure our system meets real-world needs through practical, science-based solutions.
